Dr. Bhargava received his Ph.D. from the Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore, India.  After completing post-doctoral studies with Professor Sherman Weissman at Yale University, Dr. Bhargava worked at Bayer Corporation from 1994 until 2007. While at Bayer Corporation, he was responsible for target identification, target validation, and assay development projects in the therapeutic areas of osteoarthritis, osteoporosis and oncology, and was also responsible for leading cross-functional, preclinical drug discovery teams toward Phase I clinical trials.  In the area of oncology, Dr. Bhargava has worked extensively on various drug discovery projects including protein kinases, cytotoxics and hypoxia pathway inhibitors.  Dr. Bhargava has authored several peer-reviewed international scientific publications regarding his research outcomes.
